Sonam Kapoor 'abused' for setting fashion trends

Known as the fashion icon of Bollywood, Sonam Kapoor says many actresses in the industry blame her for starting the trend of always being stylish.
The 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' star said a 'big actress' once told her how she had to shell out a lot of money to pay for her stylist to look good.
A lot of actresses are abusing me for it. I remember a very big actress telling me 'Sonam, why did you do this. You know how much money I am paying my stylist right now'.
"I was like I don't pay my stylist, it's my sister or I just style myself. You just have to be yourself," she told reporters at Filmfare Glamour and Style Awards cover launch.
Sonam said film stars have to be careful while setting a trend as they are influential.
"As movie stars we have such a huge say in how the market is going to be like. Whether it's the movies, or cricket, we all started dressing up in a certain way and started wearing make-up. We unfortunately or fortunately set trends so we have to be very careful in what we do and what we say," she said.
Sonam, however, feels she should be called 'stylish' rather than a 'fashionista'.
"Being fashionable and being stylish are two different things. Style is able to carry whatever you are... I hate it when people call me fashionista, I'd rather have people call me stylish."
Recently, actress Athiya Shetty was compared to Sonam for her style statement.
When asked for her views about it, the 'I hate Luv Stories' actress said, "I love Athiya, I think she is incredibly beautiful. She is very sweet and I think she is like a gazelle, she is very beautiful."

Is there competition between Anil Kapoor and daughers Rhea, Sonam Kapoor ?

Is there competition between Anil Kapoor and daughers Rhea, Sonam Kapoor ?

Bollywood actor Anil Kapoor said that there is competition at home when it comes to performing better between him, actress daughter Sonam and her sibling Rhea who is a producer. Sonam won the 'Most Entertaining Actress' in a romantic role' for Prem Ratan Dhan Payo.
"Congratulations to Sonam. I am here for my award. There is competition at home," the Ram Lakhan star told reporters at the Big Star Entertainment awards on Monday. Sonam was very happy, as well as surprised to receive the award. "I was not aware that I was going to get an award. I don't know what all I said on the stage. I was here to talk about my next film on Neerja Bhanot," the 30-year-old actress adds.

Sonam Kapoor says she wants art to be kept away from politics as she takes over the stage at the Aaj Tak Agenda

'For me, intolerance is a very broad term. If people from India can work anywhere in the world, I don’t think there should be any problem that people from other countries can’t work here' - Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor is quite vocal when it comes to voicing her opinion on important matters.
And the Prem Ratan Dhan Payo actor yet again did not mince any words when she took over the stage at the Aaj Tak Agenda 2015.
Unlike many of her contemporaries, the 30-year-old actor refuses to live in her own cocoon and never ceases to speak her mind.
With the growing debate on intolerance taking over the country, the Khoobsurat actor was asked about her views on the situation.
'For me, intolerance is a very broad term. I have faced racism in many countries. They see brown skin and they judge you.
'If people from our country can work anywhere in the world, I don't think there should be any problem that people from other countries can’t work here,' Sonam said.
'I think art should be kept separate from politics. I have worked with Fawad in Khoobsurat and I can say that he is a great artist. It is secondary that he is from Pakistan,' she added.
At the same time, Sonam is of the opinion that there is intolerance in the country and would want a healthy dialogue and discussion.
But as soon as Sonam was asked about Aamir Khan's remark on intolerance, she jumped to his rescue.
She said that Aamir has been quoted out of context and rather than creating a furore about his comments, it’s important to understand the reason behind his fears.

Sonam Kapoor is furious – we know why!

Sonam Kapoor is furious – we know why!

Pretty lass Sonam Kapoor is annoyed and we just can’t stop gushing over it. Sorry Sonam but this gesture is indeed really cute! Sonam is very active on her Instagram account where she vented out her anger. She shared a video that had Elise (movie character) talking about her frustration. “You think just because I’m a movie star I don’t have feelings. Well you’re wrong. I do have feelings. I’m an actress. I have all of them!” says Goldie Hawn in a 1996 film The First Wives.
What’s interesting to see are the actresses she tagged. From her bestie Jacqueline Fernandez to Parineeti Chopra including Alia Bhatt, Sonakshi Sinha, Swara Bhaskar and her new found friend Athiya Shetty all made it to the caption of this post.
All these hotties met at a recent award night were they even sat together and chatted away to glory. This may seem as the dawn of a blossoming friendship between co-actresses, which are considered rivals otherwise.
We hope this new bonds between fellow actresses sustains for long in this industry. Kudos to women power, keep spreading love people!

Directors trust Sonam Kapoor as an actress: Anil Kapoor

Actress Sonam Kapoor‘s movie resume may not have many hits, but it sure boasts of big filmmakers, and her father Anil Kapoor says the reason big names want to work with the actress is because they trust her.Sonam, who made her debut with filmmaker Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s “Saawariya”, has worked with directors like Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra in “Delhi-6″ and “Bhaag Milkha Bhaag”, Aanand L Rai’s “Raanjhanaa” and Sooraj Barjatya in the recent “Prem Ratan Dhan Payo”.Anil, 58, says his daughter has not done as much work as he did in his first eight years in Bollywood but the choices she has made in terms of films and directors have been excellent.
“So far she has made good choices. Sonam has hardly done enough films as compared to what I had done in eight years. But her choices have been big and good filmmakers . It shows how much people trust her as an actress,” Anil told PTI on the sidelines of IFFI.”Be it Bhansali, Rakeysh, Barjatya or Ram Madhvani with whom she is working on Neerja Bhanot’s biopic, these directors will not cast her if they would not believe in her. They see a great future in her. Her acting abilities are such that they know she will be able to tell their stories. That’s the biggest compliment.”Anil’s other daughter Rhea is a producer, who has made films like “Aisha” and “Khoobsurat”.
Her upcoming project is “Battle for Bittora”. Anil’s son Harshvardhan Kapoor will soon make his debut in Mehra’s “Mirziya” and the “Dil Dhadakne Do” star says he never thought all his children would join the film industry and is always anxious about their career.”I feel happy but I am anxious always as a father. I have mixed emotions. I never really imagined that it is going to happen. You can’t really predict the future of your children, can’t predict the success. They come with their own destiny. I think my children have come with their own destiny. Now it is up to them.”Anil says he never pressurises his children or interferes in their career because for him the most important thing is to know whether they are happy.”Sonam is doing great. Rhea is doing great. My main concern is whether they are happy. And I know that they are very happy. So I think they are very successful. If they were very successful and not happy, I would not be happy about that.”

People will always have an opinion of you: Sonam Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor has always been vocal about her thoughts and opinions. She speaks without inhibitions, and lives on her own terms. When it comes to taking a stand, she’s the first one to do so, even in the virtual world. In cyber space, on several occasions, Sonam has stood up against bullies. She feels that no one has the right to put a person down.
“Honestly, being a celebrity makes you a soft target — be it on social networking platforms or in the media. People will always have an opinion of you. When it’s constructive, and comes from a place where there’s no negativity, it’s fine. But when it comes from a place where it’s hateful, it just breeds negativity. Anything that breeds negativity and hatred is dangerous,” says the actor, adding that she feels it is important “to put people who comment on your sexuality, the way you look, or the way your body is, down.”
She says, “It’s okay to have an opinion, but if someone is being nasty, it’s important to fight back. People need to know that it’s not okay to get bullied.”
Sonam’s latest release is a hit. Her next project is a biopic. The actor says she likes to do different kinds of roles. “You don’t expect a role to remind you of the last work you did. It should be completely new. I don’t like to repeat myself,” says the actor.
Ask her whether she feels pressurised about her next riding on her shoulders, and Sonam says, “Honestly, with the way Khoobsurat (2014) and Raanjhanaa (2013) did, the female characters in both films were very strong. When such films do well, you understand that it’s not just about you. The content and film-making have to be good, and people need to connect to it. It is, to a certain extent, my responsibility to market and promote the film. But, if the movie itself is good, it will do well. I don’t stress about those things,” she says.

Sonam Kapoor In 'Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' Will Convince You To Never Fancy A Royal Wedding

SONAM KAPOOR

If you are among the thousands of women who believe in having impractical ambitions and wardrobes, you probably want (and want to be) an Indian royal, the Bollywood version. While your delusion has been held firmly in place by the image of Fawad Khan in a black bandhgala, or a black Nehru jacket, or a black blazer, Salman Khan in Prem Ratan Dhan Payo will demolish every misconception you nursed about royals thanks to the other Khan's week-old stubble.
And if you are not convinced that the love of your life may still come riding a smartphone app, but never a Rolls Royce zooming out of a fort, Sonam Kapoor's 'rajkumari' romance in the times of Tinder will put your doubts to rest. Here are four strong caveats Sooraj Barjatya's Prem Ratan Dhan Payo raises against the idea of a 'royal' romance.
Firstly, your self respect has to be inversely proportional to the number of uncut diamonds on your being. You may have lusted after them all your lives, but these jewellery alter egos of Saturn's Rings snatch women's ability to utter a very important word - break-up. Nearly half-an-hour into the film, Princess Maithili (played by Sonam Kapoor) finds herself sitting across fiance Salman Khan at a Last Supper-ish table. She is hiding behind goggles bigger than the soup bowls before her. Since Barjatya has a predilection for physical ailments (Monish Behl with a shaky hand in Hum Saath Saath Hai, a burnt Amrita Rao in Vivah) you wonder if this princess suffers from blindness, conjunctivitis or chronic hangover.
However, you're told, she suffers from a broken heart. She finally takes the shades off, whimpers and declares that her fiance pays no attention to her, has fought with her in the five times they have spoken and doesn't care for her. You probably want to shout, 'he's Salman Khan and you're not an SUV' to explain his lack of interest, but Maithili can't hear you. Oh, she will dump him now, you think. But no, she asks him if he wants to end the relationship and dump her. And that if he does, she will go back to Delhi. No no, not to kill herself in the summer, but to work with her NGO. You'd think a princess with the kind of wealth she has, she would have the gut to call off a relationship, but she doesn't and begs him to decide the fate of their relationship. Diamonds, after all, do seem to rust human brains.

Twitter Launches Diwali Emoji with Salman Khan, Sonam Kapoor

Micro-blogging site Twitter on Monday launched a Diwali emoji by roping in Bollywood actors Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor whose new movie will release during this festive season.

"This Diwali, Twitter is the go-to platform where people from across the world can engage in conversations about their celebrations, experiences and moments in real time. Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor launched the first emoji.

The new emoji comes after the 'Make in India' emoji launched by Commerce Minister Nirmala Sitharaman from the Twitter headquarters in San Jose.

Twitter said users can combine the hashtag #HappyDiwali when composing a tweet and a special emoji of a 'diya' (lamp) will appear next to the hashtag in the sent tweet.

Sonam Kapoor Speaks About Anil Kapoor’s Views On Feminism!

Sonam Kapoor and Anil Kapoor

Sonam Kapoor was present at this year’s Jio MAMI Mumbai Film Festival where she spoke to Rohan Joshi about Bollywood and social media. The talk then took another direction and the actress was asked about her views on feminism.
Sonam’s views are a refreshing change, especially after actresses likePriyanka Chopra and Parineeti Chopra have distanced themselves from the term ‘feminists’ like it’s something bad. It really isn’t you guys.

Katrina Kaif in Sonam Kapoor's chick flick?

Sonam-Katrina

Actress Katrina Kaif has been approached for a chick flick to be directed by Sonam Kapoor's sister Rhea. Gossip mills are abuzz that Katrina is considering the offer of the film and would soon sit for a film narration session.
"She has been approached for it. She has not heard it (script) yet. She is yet to take a call," sources said. Rhea Kapoor has produced films like "Aisha", "Khoobsurat" and the upcoming "Battle For Bittora", all starring Sonam in the lead role and the yet-to-be-titled film would mark her debut as a director.
Reportedly, the film is on the same lines as Zoya Akhtar's "Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara", except this one would have girls in the lead roles. The film may also star actresses Huma Qureshi and Anushka Sharma.
Katrina would be soon seen in Abhishek Kapoor's adaptation of Charles Dickens' book "The Great Expectations", titled "Fitoor". She had also been busy with the shooting of Nitya Mehra's "Baar Baar Dekho" and Anurag Basu's "Jagga Jasoos".
It may be noted that Katrina and Sonam are endorsing the same cosmetic brand.

Why Salman Khan's comments about Sonam Kapoor will deeply hurt Madhuri Dixit fans

Madhuri-Salman-Sonam

After Bhagyashree, Madhuri Dixit, Sonali Bendre, Tabu, Karisma Kapoor and others, it's Sonam Kapoor's turn to be a Rajshri heroine. With her big ticket blockbuster film Prem Ratan Dhan Payo releasing this November, anticipation has already sky-rocketed. Salman Khan who's played Prem in most of the Sooraj Barjatyafamily dramas will be reprising his role in the original.
Sonam Kapoor who stars opposite Salman Khan in Sooraj Barjatya's Prem Ratan Dhan Payo was excited to play the role of an Indian Princess in the romantic drama especially since it marks the return of the superstar to the Barjatya house.
Known to wear his heart on his sleeve, Salman was all praise for his co-star Sonam Kapoorand even went on to speak in favor of her fashion icon image. Said Salman Khan, "Sonam is a very talented actress . I understand that she is known as a fashionista, fashion icon and people always talk about her clothes but that shouldn't take away from her talent. She is a brilliant actor and a beautiful girl .So what if she wears great clothes? Everyone should".
Not just that, in an interview with a leading portal, Salman even went on record claiming that Sonam's performance in PRDP is much better than Madhuri's in Hum Aapke Hain Koun. "The kind of work Sonam has done in the movie is really good. If you see Madhuri in HAHK and if you see Sonam, I think Sonam has done a much better job than Madhuri. I have said that yesterday in my living room and I can definitely say that here also."
But the Dabangg actor quickly laughed and admitted that he said it in jest. "Madhuri will know it's not true so she will understand that I'm promoting Prem Ratan Dhan Payo."
But no matter what, this comment might just not go down too well with all Madhuri and HAHK fans.

Salman Khan is an idealist, not cynical: Sonam Kapoor

Salman Khan was Sonam Kapoor’s lover in Saawariya and it seems the love is still in the air for the to actors. No, it’s not the boyfriend-girlfriend type of love but the love you feel for a person out of respect for their ideals and their way of thinking. Sonam Kapoor is smitten with that kind of love for her Prem Ratan Dhan Payo co-star, Salman Khan.
Sonam Kapoor and any of us couldn’t have bet a dime on the fact that Sooraj Barjatya, the God of Hindi family dramas would cast the Saawariya actor with Salman Khan in his big comeback film. If starring as the female lead in Sooraj Barjatya’s comeback film wasn’t enough, the male lead as Salman Khan as the lovable son in his already popular avatar as Prem makes the film that much more special if you have to count your blessings.
Sonam Kapoor is in awe of Salman Khan for his positive approach to things and loved working with the superstar once again. Shooting for a family drama did have its effects on set with meals together gave Sonam a sense of community with her fellow actors. She is surprised that Salman, despite his immense success over the years has managed to stay clear of cynicism. Sonam Kapoor also appreciates the noble effort via Salman Khan’s ‘Being Human’ initiative. It seems that Sonam is a total fan-girl like millions of others for the Bajrangi Bhaijaan actor.

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo' poster: Salman Khan-Sonam Kapoor recreate scene from 'Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam'

Prem Ratan Dhan Payo poster

Makers of "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" recently released the poster of the film that features Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor.
The poster shows Salman posing with Sonam's choti (plait) in hand.
While the poster looks fun, it took viewers back to Salman and Aishwarya Rai Bachchan's "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam" days. In that movie, there was a scene in the song 'Ankhon ki Gustakhiyan' where Salman grabs Aishwarya's plait.
Is the "Bajrangi Bhaijaan" actor re-creating the scenes with Sonam in his upcoming film?
Even the first look poster reminded many of Aish and Salman's "Hum Dil De Chuke Sanam". However, some also thought it was similar to "Hum Aapke Hain Koun".
Coming back to the "Prem Ratan Dhan Payo" (PRDP) poster, it looks vibrant and Salman and Sonam in their royal looks appear very comfortable with each other.
The first song 'Prem Leela' from the film has been loved by all. The song is a Navratri special and mainly, a treat to the audience forDusshera.
It is also the introductory song of the character 'Prem'. The film is set to be released on 12 November coinciding with Diwali.
Though the basic plot is like any other Sooraj Barjatya family drama film, it is different from his previous movies in many ways. This time, the audience will see more colour and, interestingly, fighting sequences in the film.
In the movie, Salman will play a double role -- one as a common man and the other as a prince.
Director Barjatya and Salman have teamed up for "PRDP" after 16 years.
The film, which will feature Sonam as a princess, also has Neil Nitin Mukesh, Anupam Kher, Armaan Kohli, Swara Bhaskar and Deepak Dobriyal in pivotal roles.

! Behind The Scenes Video Of Salman Khan-Sonam Kapoor’s Photo Shoot

Prem-Ratan-Dhan-Payo-13

It is not every day that we see a fuss free casual Salman Khan decked up in a royal Sherwani holding a girl in his arm and posing in the most romantic fashion for the cameras. The lights go out, the shot is over, but the actors are still thinking, waiting and acting out their next pose, well this is what happens behind the cameras on the day of a cover photo shoot.
We recently gave you a glimpse of the ever so grand, ever so hot and breath-taxingly royal cover photo shoot of Harper’s Bazaar Bride magazine featuring the new age romantic jodi of Salman Khan and Sonam Kapoor. We were pleasantly delighted to see this Bollywood hunk sport a maroon and white sherwani. Sonam Kapoor has always been a fashion idol for many. We see her flaunt a Maroon Ethnic Lehnga from Manish Malhotra’s collection.
Behind the scenes in a recently released video we caught our favorite stars talk about their experience and their reason behind choosing the shoot. Salman very candidly and openly disclosed that because his personal style has always been a casual jeans and tee with shoes, he is not generally suitable, but opted for candidate for these fashion cover shoots. It was fun and easy for him to say yes for this shoot because before putting on double weight and training for his next movie’ Sultan’, he wanted to see himself adorn a royal look.
Sonam Kapoor has been on the cover of many fashion magazines thanks to her love for couture, fashion, style and international taste hence for her this shoot was all about glamour and chemistry. She almost blushed talking about Salman Khan who for her is the ultimate ‘Prem’ and has the capacity unlike any star to look good and admirable in every frame. For her bringing out the chemistry and love comes naturally all thanks to the easy and happy attitude of Salman.
After a long gap of a decade and more, we will finally see our Prem make a comeback with Rajshri Productions in ‘Prem Ratan Dhan Payo’. Nothing much has changed; it is a usual Sooraj Barjatya family drama with huge lavish sets and beautifully decorated stars. We are anxious to see our Prem on screen.
